BEFORE

I thought my hair was growing and was just fine before I really started looking in the mirror at it. I began to realize that there was really no shape to my hair. My curls basically looked like a triangle. They were flat at the top and spread out to a puffy and dangly end. I finally decided to do something about it!

SO LET'S GET INTO MY DEVACURL DEVA CUT EXPERIENCE!!!

THE CUT

I was the person who thought they could trim and cut their own hair. Unfortunately, I wasn't very good at it. So, I had to get some professional help. When I arrived at the hair salon my stylist asked me what I was looking for? I told her I was looking to keep my length, but get rid of all of the scraggily parts and lastly have a nice shape. She started with parting my hair at the back and cut piece by piece. She elongated my curl as she cut it and that is why my hair looked like a round poof ball at the end of almost an hour of her cutting and shaping it.

-YOU MAY HAVE SOME OF THESE THOUGHTS-

Are they doing it right?

Are they supposed to be stretching my curls and cutting them?

My hair looks a lot shorter than I expected.

Did I make a mistake?

WASHING | CONDITIONING | PRODUCTS

Once my curls had been cut and shaped, I was taken to get it washed and conditioned.  I was told at the beginning that the Deva Cut was one charge and to get it washed, conditioned and styled was an add on fee because some people just wanted the cut.  I was fine with that since I was given that information before I arrived.

The stylist washed my hair with the DevaCurl Low Poo because she liked that it lathered.  She then conditioned it with the DevaCurl One Conditioner.  Once my hair was washed and conditioned, she put the DevaCurl Ultra Defining Gel in my hair and then layered the DevaCurl Styling Cream on top.

After putting the products in my hair she put me underneath the dryer for about 15 minutes.  My hair wasn't completely dry when I was taken from the dryer.  I went back to the chair and she had me flip my hair over and she began to scrunch and scrunch and scrunch my curls.  I flipped my hair back and she diffused the rest with the DevaCurl Devafuser attachment.  It looks very interesting as it looks just like a hand. After diffusing my hair, she went through my hair again and trimmed a few other parts, but basically fluffed it a bit and I was done!

- SHAJUANA'S LASTING THOUGHTS -

I absolutely LOVED my Devacurl Deva Cut!!! I thought my stylist did an amazing job! She listened to me and understood exactly what I wanted.  The layers looked fantastic and I no longer have any scraggily parts!  As for the products, I think they defined my curls and made them pop.  However, I like my curls to be soft and supple.  The Devacurl products that were used on me did not seem to moisturize my hair.  They were a bit too drying for me.  A lot of people love them, so they may work for you, but I do find that any gel I use tends to dry my hair out.  Other than that, I would DEFINITELY recommend the Devacurl Deva Cut if you are looking to give your curls some shape and body.

If you wear your hair straight often, this cut may not be for you because once you straighten it out the layers will look off because it is a cut for your curly hair and not straight hair.  I hope this helped you decide if the Devacurl Deva Cut is for you.  If you decide to take the plunge, may your experience be as AMAZING as mine was!
