3 THINGS NOT TO DO IN THE NEW YEAR!!!

 SETTING UNREALISTIC GOALS

Some of us do well with goals and checklists.  However, that list has to be doable.  This reminds me of an episode from Sex and the City when Charlotte told her friends that she made a decision that she was getting married this year.  Wow!  That means that she would have to not only meet the guy, have him propose, but also plan a wedding in a 365 day period.  Under normal circumstances that is quite unrealistic.  Or many of us get stuck in the weight trap.  I’m going to lose 50 pounds this first month.  That’s a lot of weight and something you can’t do in a healthy way.  It’s better to start off by saying I would like to open myself up to new relationships this year or I would like to lose 5 pounds this month.  That’s a bit more realistic. Setting unrealistic goals causes us to fail even with trying and hard work.  If we feel like failures within the first month of the year how well do we feel the rest of the year will go. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is all about emotion and feelings.  So, setting realistic goals will pump us up and make us feel good when we reach them and in turn make us feel like we can do things that were at first out of reach because of our lack of belief within ourselves.

SAYING THIS YEAR IS YOUR YEAR

Last year was your year too, but for some reason there is a thought that January 1st signifies a time of change in ones life, when it’s only a day that signifies a new year has begun.  Your life hasn’t reset and it’s not a day that has washed away all past sins.  You can always have a new start anytime you want it and how many ever times you want it through out the year or your lifetime.  Your year is every year and expect that not just on the 1st, but everyday.

SEEING YOURSELF AS A LIABILITY INSTEAD OF AN ASSET

You are your best ally.  No one else can do more for you than yourself.  You don’t need to look better or be better.  Just be the you you already are.  You don’t need to have bigger lips, longer hair, bigger eyes or a smaller waist to be happy or even content.  You just need to stop putting yourself down and utilize the assets that have been there all along.  That asset is you without any change.
